‘Extremist groups’ warned to vacate protests at New Jersey ICE facility as governor sends in police

The battle outside a controversial New Jersey immigration detention center intensified on Saturday as Governor Mikie Sherrill issued a stark warning to what she described as outside agitators and extremist organizations.

After days of escalating confrontations outside Newark’s Delaney Hall facility, the Democratic governor revealed that the overwhelming majority of protesters arrested during Friday night’s disorder were not even from New Jersey.
