Phony Harlandale Softball Fundraiser Hits South Side Storefronts

Harlandale ISD police warned San Antonio businesses on Saturday about a door-to-door solicitor who has been claiming to represent the district and asking for donations for a summer softball league. District officials say this person is not authorized to collect funds and are urging business owners to turn down any on-the-spot payment requests. Anyone approached is asked to call Harlandale ISD investigators at 210-989-4753.

According to KENS5, the individual has been telling staff at local shops and restaurants that they are collecting money for a Harlandale summer softball program. The station reports that Harlandale ISD police circulated the warning to merchants across the South Side while investigators work to identify the solicitor.

On its own site, Harlandale ISD urges businesses and community members to verify credentials before making donations and to report any suspicious solicitors directly to investigators. The district lists its police tip line at 210-989-4753 and notes that official donation drop-offs are coordinated through district campuses and the Harlandale ISD Police Department. Those procedures are laid out on the district news page at Harlandale ISD.
