Driver injured after avoiding hitting a deer in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A man from New Haven was driving on I-69 when he swerved to miss a deer, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday at 3:43 a.m., a 19-year-old was driving northbound on I-69 near the 323-mile marker when he swerved the car to avoid hitting a deer. He left the east side of the road and crashed into a drainage ditch before striking a tree.

The driver sustained a broken collarbone and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The car was heavily damaged, and the airbags were deployed…
