A National Weather Service survey confirmed a tornado touched down near Santa Clara in Guadalupe County with peak winds of 105 mph that stayed on the ground about five minutes and tracked just under three miles, causing widespread tree damage north of Kunde Road before lifting short of Seguin. A weak, brief tornado also touched down along the Rio Grande north of Eagle Pass with no significant damage. Rain totaled about 1 to 1.5 inches around Bexar County, pushing San Antonio to nearly seven inches above average since April and to its wettest start to a year since 2016.

Power outage sent 550,000 gallons of wastewater into Guadalupe River

Storms knocked out power to a New Braunfels Utilities lift station, sending about 550,000 gallons of untreated wastewater into the Guadalupe River near Lake Dunlap. The overflow emerged from a manhole and flowed near a filtering facility on Rio Lane before river flow and storm runoff diluted it, according to the utility. NBU said customers’ drinking water remained safe and recreation in that stretch of the river was unaffected. The utility notified downstream providers but said it did not know if their water quality was affected. NBU and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality opened investigations, and the utility said it is evaluating resiliency measures for future power disruptions.
