A partnership project between the Four Roots organization and the Spokane Conservation District, The Scale House Market is directly addressing the community’s food challenges in ways that benefit the public, farmers and food producers. Beyond that, the indoor market offers some really tasty food and beverages.
“Four Roots was founded in 2021 to address the region’s food insecurity that was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Brittany Tyler, CEO of Four Roots and director of The Scale House Market. “People could not access food. Farmers lost sales channels. There was a systemic gap in being able to feed our community.”
From 2021 through 2025, Four Roots partnered with the Washington State Department of Agriculture through the We Feed WA Food Box Program to deliver fresh food boxes across 13 counties in Eastern Washington — at times distributing as many as 4,000 boxes each week.
