New Hampshire Woman Found Dead in Washing Machine at Bottom of Lake, Case Still Unsolved After Eight Years

Additional Coverage:

Eight years after Trish Haynes’ disappearance, her family continues to seek justice for the 25-year-old woman whose remains were tragically found inside a washing machine submerged in a New Hampshire pond.

Haynes vanished abruptly in 2018, cutting off all communication with her grandmother shortly after moving in with two friends. Concerned by the sudden silence, her grandmother filed a missing person report with the Grafton Police Department two months later. Initially, messages received about Haynes came only through those friends, raising further alarm.

An anonymous tip led investigators to Grant’s Pond, where submerged beneath the water they discovered a washing machine and dryer containing Haynes’ remains. Authorities later ruled her death a homicide, prompting a year-long investigation. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made and the case remains unsolved.

Carey-Ann Wilson, Haynes’ cousin, shared the family’s ongoing heartbreak and determination. “I was living in Arizona when I learned of Trish’s death.

I was stunned, deeply saddened,” she said. Carey-Ann described how her family noticed a disturbing change in Trish’s communication after she moved in with her friends.

The once-close relationship with her grandmother and great aunt grew distant, with calls becoming infrequent and often coming through her friends rather than directly from Trish herself.

“It felt out of character,” Carey-Ann explained. “Trish eventually told her grandmother that her phone was broken and she had to use a friend’s phone, which made communication even more sporadic.”

Though the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office confirmed Haynes’ death publicly in July 2019, the family has yet to see justice served. Carey-Ann emphasized the emotional toll of the unresolved case: “It’s incredibly frustrating and painful. Time keeps moving forward, but for families like ours, part of you remains stuck in that unanswered space.”

She added, “We believe someone out there knows more than they’ve shared. Our family carries grief and unanswered questions, but we refuse to let Trish’s story be forgotten. We continue speaking out, collaborating with advocacy groups, and working to bring renewed attention to her case.”

As the years pass, the family’s resolve to find answers remains unwavering, holding onto hope that justice will one day be achieved for Trish Haynes.
