Four state championships earned, five second-place finishes and a second-place boys team trophy to boot? It was quite a weekend in Eugene for the Crater track and field program.
Seniors Nathan Lindbloom and Preston Schmidt and junior athletes Brynn Davenport and Max Miracle paved the way for another prime showing at Hayward Field with first-place marks for the Comets during the Class 5A track and field state championships.
The results could have even been better, considering the Crater girls flirted with their own state trophy before settling in at fifth place — just three points shy of forcing a three-way tie for third place…
