My wife and I had the opportunity to have lunch the other day with a friend of mine at the McMenamins North bank brewpub in Eugene. I’ve had the pleasure to eat and sip a beer or two there numerous times over the years. I readily accepted my friend’s invitation. I knew that the place has a nice and varied menu and certainly enough craft beer (as well as a full bar) to please the most discerning beer palate.
McMenamins sits along the Willamette River just off Coburg Road. The place sits amongst an abundance of trees surrounding the restaurant. Its location on the north bank of the river makes you feel like you’re going into a fine dining facility. Outdoor seating along the river is abundant and lends best to those who want to dine along the river’s edge.
Is it a restaurant or brewpub? The distinction is marginal. Most of the food on the menu is, as I would classify it, high-end pub food during lunch. I’ve yet to experience their dinner menu which features a limited selection, but fare that would rival most dinner houses. Over the years I’ve sampled many of McMenamins proprietary beers, not just at the North Bank location but many of their locations throughout the state…
