SARASOTA, Fla. — A routine morning of construction work took a dark turn on Friday, May 29, when crews uncovered partial human skeletal remains in a patch of woods off Leonard Reid Avenue in Sarasota.
The grim discovery sparked a massive, weekend-long investigation as authorities swarmed the wooded lot. Throughout Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, members of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, Criminal Investigations Section, and Emergency Response Team worked alongside volunteers from Sarasota K9 Search and Rescue to comb the thick brush for clues and any additional remains.
