Next stop for Tigers’ Nelson is Fayetteville St.

Ethan Nelson probably didn’t need to be part of a state championship high school team to have a chance to play football in college, but that experience has paid off in many ways for the Wilson Preparatory Academy senior.

Nelson will play football at Fayetteville State University after signing a National Letter of Intent earlier this month to join the Broncos of NCAA Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. He chose Fayetteville State amid offers from fellow CIAA member Bluefield State in West Virgina; Barton and UNC Pembroke of Div. II Conference Carolinas and Div. II Guilford as well as interest from other Div. IIIs Averett, Christopher Newport and Greensboro.

Nelson had been leaning toward signing with UNC Pembroke of Div. II Conference Carolinas, but Fayetteville State just had a certain sense of welcome that he didn’t find elsewhere…
