CSPD: Suspect hides in attic after assaulting victim with knife

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance involving a knife in the area of Uintah Street and North Union Boulevard on Saturday night, May 30, after which the suspect hid from police in a nearby home’s attic, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD reported that at around 8 p.m. on Saturday, when officers arrived at the 1100 block of Iowa Avenue, they interacted with two victims, one of whom told police that the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Jamie Salazar, had physically assaulted and threatened them, causing minor injuries.

Officers learned that the suspect was hiding in the attic of a nearby home and set up containment, according to CSPD. Police got an arrest warrant for the suspect on charges of menacing and assault, and a search warrant for the home.
