Fayetteville Realtor Discovers Decades of Korean War Memorabilia in Home Shed

Elly Watts stumbled upon boxes crammed with letters, awards, and keepsakes that once belonged to a Korean War veteran and his wife. She’d purchased the Fayetteville, N.C., townhome back in February. The real estate broker came close to tossing everything out before curiosity got the better of her. Military.com has the full story, and it’s incredible.

The belongings traced back to Mary Perry Allen and her late husband, retired Maj. Warren Allen. Maj. Allen fought with the 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion, the U.S. Army’s first all-Black airborne unit nicknamed “The Triple Nickles.” He earned induction into the Ranger Hall of Fame years later.

“I was just going through old boxes and found all of this stuff,” Watts told Military.com. “I was going to have my contractors throw it all away, but something just told me to take a look.”…
