SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – With hurricane season underway, Georgia Power crews are working across coastal Georgia to strengthen the electric grid and improve reliability before severe weather threatens the region.
The utility said its efforts focus on reducing outages and restoring power more quickly when storms damage infrastructure.
“Distribution is an industry term that refers to the lower voltage infrastructure that runs from your house to a substation,” Georgia Power spokesperson Joshua Peacock said. “And that’s the stuff that is usually heavily impacted during hurricane season.
