Two people were killed early yesterday when a car slammed into an embankment on northbound Loop 820 in Hurst and erupted in flames, Hurst police said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and officers found the vehicle on the inside shoulder of the freeway. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The victims have not been publicly identified. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm their names after the next of kin are notified.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Hurst officers were dispatched to the 200 block of northbound Loop 820 at about 3:45 a.m. after 911 callers reported the fiery crash.
