Roof collapse in Gentilly Terrace spotlights New Orleans blight crisis

NEW ORLEANS — A weather-beaten wood frame double near Clematis and Jonquil streets in the Gentilly Terrace neighborhood has been an eyesore for decades. On Monday morning, it became a case of demolition by neglect.

The roof of the long-blighted property caved in, startling neighbors who were still asleep.
