SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — As Shelby County continues to grow, county leaders have approved the first phase of a manufactured home community expansion that officials said will help provide additional affordable housing options.
The Shelby County Planning Commission approved Monday the first phase of Longmeadow West, an expansion of the existing Longmeadow Mobile Home Park located off Longmeadow Road in unincorporated Shelby County near Alabaster.
The approved phase includes 31 new manufactured home lots on about 19.4 acres. The development is part of a larger three-phase project spanning nearly 72 acres. If all phases move forward, the expansion is expected to add a total of 123 new home sites to the existing community…
