COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – As gas prices have climbed nationwide, local food truck owners say they are feeling the impact on their pockets.
Not only does it cost hundreds of dollars to fill up the actual truck, but most rely on gas-powered generators to keep the kitchen running all day.
Rising weekly costs
Leo Scott, owner of Food Dude Kuisine, said he spends between $230 and $300 a week on gas, depending on the location and events.
“What I have done is that, in times of when we’re not operating as fast, I may shut the generator down for 30 minutes or so, just to save the costs of gas or make sure that we get to events in the right amount of time to ensure that we’re just not wasting fuel during those times frames,” Scott said…
