LORANE, Ore. — The Lorane Rural Fire Protection District was busy over the weekend.
Just before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters responded to an escaped burn pile west of Lorane in the area of Siuslaw and Letz Creek roads, which spread uphill through grasses and moderate fuels. Crews were able to bring the blaze under control with around 3/4 acre burned. ODF responded with crews to dig a hand line around the perimeter and continue mop up.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, crews responded to a call for an area check for smoke. Crews located an active fire and upgraded the call to a brush fire to dispatch additional Lorane units…
