ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The Asheville area has long been a popular destination for vacation homes and mountain getaways, but anyone loosely familiar with economics can spot an increasing issue locally: Not only has demand for second homes waned, but the supply of such homes is simultaneously soaring.
New data shows that while demand for second homes has cooled significantly compared to previous years, the second-home market in western North Carolina has changed considerably since its pandemic-era peak, with more properties now hitting the market, local experts said.
