LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Coral Gables, a family-owned restaurant on East Grand River Avenue that has served Michigan State University students and the East Lansing community for nearly a century, will close its doors June 30 after 58 years under the same family’s ownership.
The owners announced the closure this week in a statement posted to the restaurant’s social media, saying the decision was difficult but that “the time has come.”
“It is with great appreciation for our customers, employees and the broader community that we announce the difficult decision to close The Coral Gables in East Lansing after 58 years and two generations of ownership,” the statement read, signed by Stuart Vanis and co-owners Anastasia and Grigoris Kimbouris and George Tesseris.
