Escambia and Orange Beach officials agree on new approach after homeless drop-off

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — Last week, an Orange Beach police officer was seen dropping off a homeless man at the Pensacola Waterfront Rescue Mission. Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons took to social media, raising concerns.

Escambia County and the City of Orange Beach turned the page Monday morning, as the two are taking a new approach to combatting homelessness.

“It’s a battle for everybody, but the solution is not to just take your folks and go transport them to the next state or the next county,” Escambia County administrator Wes Moreno said…
