PORTLAND, Ore. — Fleet Week kicks off Tuesday with the arrival of the first U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy ships at the waterfront in downtown Portland. A total of six vessels are scheduled to visit the Rose City this year.
Three ships are expected Tuesday afternoon, although all the arrival times are approximate: the Royal Canadian Navy’s HMCS Max Bernays at 2 p.m., the U.S. Navy’s USS Chafee at 3:30 p.m., and the U.S. Coast Guard’s USCGC David Duren at 4:30 p.m.
The Max Bernays will be docked south of the Burnside Bridge, while the Chafee will be immediately to the north, with the remaining vessels docked in a line between the Chafee and the Steel Bridge, according to a diagram published by Portland Fire & Rescue…
