Canoe falls off van, seriously injures motorcyclist in Kent County crash

WALKER, Mich. — A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after a canoe fell off a van in Walker, according to the Walker Police Department.

The crash happened near Wilson Avenue SW and Hall Street SW, about three miles south of Standale, Mich., just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the canoe, which was on top of a van traveling south, became unsecure and fell off. It was then hit by a driver heading north, followed by the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to the department. No one else was hurt.
