A Montclair pastry chef was arrested Monday and is being held at a federal immigration detention center in New York, his family said, prompting family, friends, and the local community to raise funds for his legal defense.
Leonardo Argoti, 29, an Ecuadorian national, was detained outside of a shopping center in Buffalo, New York around 11:30 a.m. Monday, his niece Gabriela De La Torre said Tuesday. It is unclear if the officers that approached and detained Argoti were ICE agents, local police, or other law enforcement, she said.
