The tiny brewery taproom Care Forgot Beercraft (1728 St Charles Ave.) marked its two-year anniversary last weekend with a party that brought specialty oysters from down the bayou, sno-balls from Uptown and a new beer with a tribute brewed into it.
The beer is essentially a celebration of life of a friend who embodied the idea of community for many. The same beer will be turning up on tap in at least 10 taprooms around town this summer.
The beer is called Bugs and Hugs, and it was created in honor of the Michael Garcia. A Marine veteran and father, Garcia, 41, was known as a great connector of different communities in the city, including around the circuit of local craft breweries where he worked.
