BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Interest in affordable housing projects has surged across Buncombe County since Helene, but local leaders say funding, housing supply and workforce shortages continue to present significant challenges.
Buncombe County Commissioner Parker Sloan said the county began focusing more intentionally on affordable housing about a decade ago when it created a subcommittee dedicated to housing issues.
