PORTAGE, Mich. — A new school is coming to West Michigan.
Officials with Portage Public Schools (PPS) held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday afternoon for the new Amberly Elementary School on Amberly Street.

The school is being paid for by a $132.4 million bond approved by voters last year, designed to modernize and rebuild PPS’ aging elementary schools.
The new building will be built while the old building remains in operation.
