MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – If you’re heading to the beaches from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach to Pensacola Beach over the next few days, the biggest weather story won’t be rain or thunderstorms — it will be the increasingly dangerous surf conditions.
A High Rip Current Risk remains in effect through at least Saturday as strong easterly winds continue to increase across the northern Gulf. Wind gusts are expected to exceed 30 mph at times, and wave heights will build into the 4 to 6-foot range, creating rough surf and hazardous swimming conditions. Even experienced swimmers can quickly find themselves in trouble when conditions deteriorate this rapidly.
