Pedestrian critically injured after being hit by truck in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon in the Colinas del Sol neighborhood, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision happened around 4:15 p.m. near the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and 54th Street.

Police said a 29-year-old man was driving a Nissan titan eastbound on El Cajon Boulevard when he made a right turn on 54th Street. At the same time, a 54-year-old man was crossing 54th Street in an easterly direction from the south side of El Cajon Boulevard.

According to investigators, the pickup truck struck the pedestrian while completing the turn.
