Tips for baby safety: Lehigh County coroner urges safe sleep after 4 infant deaths tied to co-sleeping

Unintentional suffocation is the number one cause of injury death in babies under a year old.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office this week urged parents and caregivers to follow safe sleep practices for infants after four infant deaths in Lehigh County this year in which co-sleeping was identified as a contributing factor.

The office is partnering with the Allentown Health Bureau to promote safe sleep education throughout the community. The bureau offers a home visitation program for pregnant women and parents of newborns that focuses on safe sleep education and assessments of infant sleep environments…
