BZA approves removal of 21 grand trees for West Ashley apartment project

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A running dispute over the removal of protected trees in near West Ashley Circle took a major step forward Wednesday night after the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals approved a request tied to a development that would include townhomes and apartments.

The request had been deferred twice — once by the applicant and once by the board. City staff first deferred the matter in March, and it has been the center of debate since then.
