First new facility in 60 years opens at Detroit City Airport

DETROIT, MI – A new terminal and hangar complex opened Wednesday at Coleman A. Young International Airport, the first new facility built there in about 60 years.

The new Avflight complex includes a 5,000-square-foot fixed-base operator terminal and a 20,000-square-foot heated hangar designed to accommodate private and corporate aircraft traveling through the airport.

The project, which was fully funded by Avflight at a cost of roughly $8 million to $9 million, represents one of the most significant private investments at the airport in decades…
