HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – This year marks the 50th anniversary of Hōkūleʻa’s 1976 maiden voyage to Tahiti.
A celebration honoring that historic journey is scheduled at Iolani Palace during its free monthly Kamaʻāina Sunday event on June 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Organizers said residents and visitors will have the chance to learn more about Hōkūleʻa’s legacy and the generations of navigators, crew members, educators and community leaders who carried forward Polynesian voyaging traditions…
