Fire at Kalamazoo bar may have been caused by electrical issue, investigation ongoing

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Investigators with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) are working to learn more about what may have caused a fire at a local bar Wednesday night.

Crews responded to the Library Kitchen and Taphouse sometime around 10 p.m. after smoke was seen coming from the roof of the building, police said.

Firefighters used an aerial ladder to remove sections of roofing, insulation, and siding to expose hidden flames before putting them out. After about 45 minutes, the fire and remaining hot spots were extinguished, according to the department.
