Parents continue to challenge Bedford County Public Schools on Stewartsville Elementary closure process

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A Bedford County parent continues to challenge the school division’s handling of the Stewartsville Elementary School closure process by appearing in court Thursday.

Back in March, a lawsuit was filed against the school division alleging it did not follow proper protocol before voting to close the school for the upcoming year.

Since the lawsuit, a second vote was held to keep Stewartsville open for another year while it conducts a division-wide redistricting study to determine where to place students once the school closes. However, closure-related actions are already underway…
