Susan Green, a Slidell native, is an emergency room nurse in Baton Rouge. She started her career after high school graduation, when she saw a newspaper item that offered certified nursing assistant courses for $100 at the Baton Rouge Technical Institute. If a student completed the course and worked for six months, they got their $100 back. She leaped at the opportunity.
Thirty-two years later, Green is a nursing director. She has an open-door policy for the members of her team to come talk to her — about anything.
“They just sit in my office sometimes,” Green said. “They have their feet propped up on the desk. They will come in my office all day and talk.”…
