The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released details on an accident that occurred shortly before 6:30 Tuesday evening on Interstate 81 at mile marker 21.
A 1953 Chevrolet El Camino driven by 77-year-old William Howard Stockpole from Washington state was traveling northbound in the right lane and a 2003 Ford van driven by 34-year-old Chandler A. Richardson of Tennessee was in the left lane. Stockpole crossed the center line into the left lane, striking the van on the passenger side near the middle of the vehicle. Richardson lost control of the van, which rolled over and came to a final rest on the shoulder of the roadway.
