Medina looks to roll out long term deer management plan

MEDINA, Ohio – In the coming months, the city’s special legislation committee hopes to present council with legislation to enact a city-wide deer management plan.

“This will be a long-term management plan that is aimed at bringing the deer population to what is considered a sustainable maintenance level,” said Councilor Bill Lamb who sits on the special legislation committee. “This would be a natural level suitable for the geography and size of where we are. The plan is also meant to reduce deer/vehicle accidents and property damage and also improve the biodiversity in our parkland and forest. It is a plan that would be stretched out over a number of years and hopefully we would see results from year to year.”
