Grand Rapids DJ recovering after weekend shooting near Rosa Parks Circle

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – An overnight shooting near Rosa Parks Circle last weekend left two people injured and a community reeling after yet another incident of gun violence. One of the victims, a local DJ, was hurt while walking home after finishing a set downtown early Sunday morning.

For Collin Piette, also known as Collin Chaos in Grand Rapids’ music scene, Saturday night started like countless others. He finished a DJ set at the B.O.B and starting heading back to his truck parked nearby. Quickly, the night took a painful turn.

“I heard some commotion across the street… then just shots fired,” he told News 8. “I knew what I heard, I knew the sound and I kept going, but then I felt my foot get hit.”

Piette said he felt pain in his foot and assumed the bullet had ricocheted or grazed his foot. Believing the injury wasn’t serious, he got into his truck and started driving home…
