Smith & Wesson adding lodging to Maryville training academy

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Smith and Wesson is adding lodging to their training academy in Maryville.

The company told 6 News they are moving forward with the construction of the new academy lodge, adding that the facility will only be used to house military and law enforcement units and special guests attending multi-day training courses or special events.

“It will not be used as a commercial enterprise, but as a purposeful extension of our Training Academy’s mission,” wrote a company spokesperson. “The lodge will enhance our ability to deliver these programs in a more focused and immersive setting for our partners. Once again, we are grateful for the continued support of our community, whose partnership makes this progress and shared benefit possible.”

Smith and Wesson cut the ribbon on the training academy in Maryville in September 2025. The facility has a range of specialized training areas, including a pistol range, flex range, rifle range and a shoot house. Classes are available for law enforcement and military personnel free of charge.
