Evidence, DNA testing presented in trial of two men charged in JCPS bus stop shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Evidence collected at the scene was presented in court Friday during the trial of two men charged with gunning down a teen at a Jefferson County Public Schools bus stop in 2021.

Demaurion Moore and Mekhi Cable are both charged with the murder of Tyree Smith. Police say the two suspects started shooting from a stolen car, killing Smith and injuring a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old.

Stolen vehicle found at apartment complex

The court heard from former St. Matthews Officer Brad Harris, who found the stolen vehicle. Harris now works for the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD). Photos of the Jeep were shared in court. Harris said they found the Jeep at the Jamestown apartment complex in St. Matthews, an apartment complex he said was known for being a crime hot spot, so he would constantly be patrolling the area.
