The US Marshals are known for being the most effective law enforcement agency in capturing fugitives on the run. That point was proven yet again as they just captured a parole absconder from Illinois who was fleeing capture in Tennessee.
According to a press release just shared by the US Marshals, this drama actually began back on January 4, 2026 when authorities in the southern district of Illinois began searching for William Huggins, 42, after a directive from the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was on parole for Aggravated Battery Against a Peace Officer and wanted on an absconder warrant, but he was nowhere to be found.
That’s when the US Marshals were brought into the hunt. They learned that Mr. Huggins might be in western Tennessee and alerted their task force in Jackson County that he was likely located in the 6000 block of Bell Lane in Union City. The deputy marshals traveled to that address on Thursday, June 4, 2026. When US Marshals contacted Lydia Shiew, 60, who was at the residence, she made false statements about Huggins being inside where he was later found. She was charged with making a false police report.
