High school students heed law enforcement’s warning to behave at Sylvan Beach

SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — After a social media post circulated among teenagers advertising a “Senior Skip Day” at Sylvan Beach, the tourist spot’s shores had a bit of heightened security on Friday afternoon

High school seniors heard law enforcement’s message to be respectful and follow the rules at Sylvan Beach for Oswego County schools’ Senior Skip Day.

“We’re always worried about people’s safety, and on Senior Skip Day, I’d rather they stayed in history class to learn a good history story,” Onondaga County Sheriff Tobias Shelley said. “But we have to accept that they’re going to do it every year, and we want to be safe doing it.”
