Marshall hosts annual Mermaid Parade and Festival for the first time since Helene

MARSHALL, N.C. (WLOS) — Marshall is welcoming the start of summer with the return of a longtime community tradition this weekend.

The 18th annual Mermaid Parade and Festival is happening Saturday and Sunday in Marshall, bringing a fun, whimsical celebration featuring pirates and mermaids. Local businesses are also staying open late and getting into the festivities.

“This is actually our first Mermaid Parade since Helene, but this year we are back and ready to party,” said Abigail Guyton, president of the Downtown Marshall Association and organizer of the Mermaid Parade. “This is one of the biggest days of the year for this event.”…
