ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — After a pleasant start to the weekend, North Georgia returns to a summer pattern on Sunday with higher humidity levels and scattered rain chances lasting into next week.
Sunday: Mostly Dry Until Evening
Sunday morning and afternoon look mostly dry across North Georgia. You can plan activities without much concern early in the day. However, as we head into the late afternoon and evening, rain chances will increase, particularly across northwest Georgia. Some showers and thunderstorms could develop as early as late Sunday morning in the higher elevations, but the main activity pushes in during the evening hours.
Monday & Tuesday: First Alert Weather Days
Both Monday and Tuesday are now First Alert Weather Days as rain and thunderstorm chances continue. This is part of a pattern shift as moisture-rich air moves back into the Southeast.
Monday could see showers and storms develop as early as the morning hours. Activity will be scattered and pulse-like in nature—meaning storms will develop, move through, and new ones may pop up rather than one continuous system. Rainfall amounts will again be spotty, generally around 0.1 to 0.5 inches, with higher amounts possible in areas that get multiple rounds of storms.
