1 killed in wrong-way car crash on I-90 in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — One person is dead following a car crash on I-90 early Sunday morning in Albany, according to New York State Police. The incident reportedly occurred in the area of Exit 5A.

Police were dispatched to the scene around 1:55 a.m. for a report of a two-car head-on crash. An investigation reportedly found that a car was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it hit a westbound car.

The driver of the westbound car was declared dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was reportedly taken to Albany Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Enhanced safety measures implemented at Amsterdam park

I-90 westbound was closed between exits 6 and 5A for several hours as authorities investigated. All lanes were reopened at about 6:30 a.m., according to officials.
