A night on the river turned into an emergency Saturday when a group of rafters became stranded on an island in the Flint River after their inflatable boat sank.
Owens Cross Roads Fire & Rescue responded to the rescue call just before 9:30 p.m. and found a group who had run into trouble when their inflatable boat became caught on a submerged log and went under.
The rafters were able to swim to a nearby island but could not make it back to shore on their own due to swift river currents. They called for help…
