LMPD officer Nathan Stotts resigns amid termination process after Klondike neighborhood shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Less than a week after initiating the process to terminate him from the Louisville Metro Police Department, Chief Paul L. Humphrey accepted the resignation of Nathan Stotts, effective immediately.

LMPD said the resignation does not stop the termination process, but speeds it up by removing potential delays tied to an appeal. The department said Stotts’ personnel record will reflect that he resigned while in the process of being terminated.

The termination of Stotts comes after he shot and killed Martin Nitzken, Jr. on May 30 in the Klondike neighborhood on Cromarty Way.
