Flood watch issued for Carter County, Northeast Tennessee

A Flood Watch remains in effect for Carter County and much of Northeast Tennessee until 9 p.m. today as forecasters warn that heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding across the region.

The National Weather Service in Morristown said showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, with some storms capable of producing very heavy rainfall. Rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour are possible in the strongest storms.

Areas that experience repeated rounds of rain or prolonged periods of heavy rainfall could see isolated flash flooding, according to the weather service…
