FAIRFAX, Iowa (KCRG) – New data shows a pattern of increasing traffic and speeding – as fast as 95 mph in a 25 mph zone – plaguing Fairfax.
The City is considering approving a formal traffic study at its meeting Tuesday in response to complaints about increased traffic due to the ongoing construction of new data centers just east of the city. Many of the workers drive through Fairfax city streets to get to the project site. That added traffic has strained local roads around the project site.
Ahead of a formal study, the city placed radar signs to capture a count and speed of vehicles along three primary Fairfax streets that can be used to cut through town to get to the data center project site: Church Street, Linn Street and Fairfax Road. All three are 25 mph zones but all three recorded significant speeding issues…
